Japan's ethylene production declined year-on-year for consecutive year

Japan Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association announced the latest statistics show that in August 2012, Japan's ethylene production 562,600 tons, up 7.6% from the previous period, a year-on-year decrease of 8.1%.

According to analysis by the Japan Petrochemical Industry Association, compared with July 2012, Japan’s ethylene production capacity has not changed from the actual number of working days; the reduction in fixed maintenance of the plant has increased the output by 2.7%; the increase in the operating rate has led to a 4.9% increase in output. Based on the above factors, in August, ethylene production in Japan increased by 7.6%.

Compared with the same period of last year, the actual working days and total capacity of Japan's ethylene plant remained the same; the number of fixed overhauls reduced the output by 4.7%; the decrease in operating rate led to a 3.4% decrease in output. These factors were combined. In August, ethylene was used in Japan. The output decreased by 8.1% year-on-year. Since September last year, Japan’s ethylene production has continued its negative growth year-on-year. In the first eight months of 2012, Japan’s ethylene production was 4.0463 million tons.
