In actual use, many designers need to output PLT files in a specific plotter driver format, and then import them into processing software such as CAM350 to interact with film printers. However, the conventional print-to-pLT method is not very suitable because the size of the paper to be printed is special and the plotter drive is also required. Now, Xiao Bian takes the method of setting the plotter of Zhongwang CAD+ as an example to introduce how to output such PLT files:
First, since the PLT file is generated for a specific plotter driver, first use the Plotter Manager of Zhongwang CAD+ to add a virtual printer that supports the corresponding format. The operation steps are: click on the drawing under the file menu of the CAD+ file. Instrument Manager button (Figure 1).

Clicking this button will bring up the Plotter Manager configuration window as shown below (Figure 2):

Then follow the text wizard and click Next to select the location of the plotter driver (Figure 3):

This time, taking the general LHPGL as an example, the driver is already included in Zhongwang CAD+, so you can directly select the “My Computer†option and click Next to add the plotter model. After selecting the model, you can select the output position (Figure 4).

Because you need to output a PLT file, you can choose to print to a file.
At this point, the basic output format has been set. Considering that this print setting will be used repeatedly, Zhongwang CAD+ also provides a configuration file in PC5 format to store these configurations. Click Next (Figure 5):

In this dialog box, you can set a PC5 print configuration file to facilitate repeated calls. After clicking Next, the basic configuration is complete (Figure 6).

Of course, the plotter will definitely involve a special size of paper, so how to set the paper size? Zhongwang CAD+ provides the plotter configuration editor. You can see the “Custom Paper Size†option in the editor (Figure 7). After selecting it, click Add below to customize the size:

Because it is necessary to define special size drawings, choose the Create new drawing option, adjust the width, height, and unit of the drawing according to your needs. After setting, click Next (Figure 8):

In this dialog box you can set the print area, the designer only needs to set it according to his own requirements (Figure 9):

The next step is to name this custom configuration so that it can be called repeatedly (Figure 10). After the custom configuration is named, click the Finish button and all the configuration is complete.

Then we go to the print page, select the PC5 file just configured in the printer/plotter name field, select the paper size, check the Print to file option, you can output the PLT file that can be recognized by the processing software such as CAM350 (Figure 11).
