University students successfully developed the PM2.5 trap

The PM2.5 collection device developed by students at Ningbo University won the first prize in the “Challenge Cup” college students' extracurricular academic scientific and technological work competition that ended on the 26th. It is reported that the average filtration efficiency of this device is 99.5%, which is expected to overcome the problem of sticky particle filtration.

According to reports, at present, domestic bag filter can only filter non-stick PM2.5 particles, there is no effective device to capture fine and sticky particles. The device of Ningbo University is a PM2.5 trap that can effectively filter both sticky and non-stick particles. Its greatest technological innovation lies in the fact that on the basis of bag filter, a unique layer of powder is applied to the surface of the bag before the exhaust gas is filtered.

A member of the research team stated that due to the effect of powder physical filtration and the adsorption of powder, the sticky particles in the exhaust gas were effectively isolated, changing the status quo when the original bag filter was once blocked by sticky particles. In addition, there are mainly two key technologies for the powder bag duster to put powder into practice. The first is to choose light, high temperature and good stability and adsorption of the powder; second is to improve the structural design, add deflectors, jackets and other powder will be pre-uniformly spread on the bag surface.

It has been proved by experiments that the average filter efficiency of ordinary bag filter is only 45.5% for PM2.5 within 420 minutes, and 99.5% for devices with powder, and can be reused after cleaning. The estimated service life can be Reach 2-3 years.

It is understood that the current device has applied for two invention patents and has been signed by a domestic company for cooperation projects.
