The oxyhydrogen flame is a quartz glass synthesized by high temperature hydrolysis and vapor deposition of a heat source, and most of the hydroxyl groups in the quartz glass which is made of crystal and oxyhydrogen flame is used as a heat source. The size of the product is large, even if the product is dehydroxylated. It is also difficult to remove all of the hydroxyl groups in the length. Generally, 0.5~1.0mm thick synthetic and gas-refined quartz glass sheets can be desorbed with about 50% of hydroxyl groups over 140h under vacuum or dry N2, 1050 °C dehydrogenation conditions, and the time is almost no longer released.
Quartz glass melted under a hydrogen-rich reducing atmosphere, such as quartz glass melted in a continuous furnace with H2 as a protective gas, is easily stabilized and released by H2 in the metastable state of the hydroxyl group in the quartz glass due to the presence of oxygen defects. For example, a 1~1.5mm thick fused quartz glass tube can be desorbed by more than 90% of hydroxyl groups after 2 hours under vacuum or flowing dry N2 and 1050 °C dehydrogenation conditions.
Similarly, if the quartz glass synthesized or gasified in a hydrogen-rich reducing atmosphere has the same dehydroxylation conditions, the amount of dehydroxylation can be greatly increased.
