From 1965 to 1979, geological workers found 10 kimberlite rock tubes, 47 kimberlite veins, and 1 kimberlite rock bed. After exploration and evaluation, the diamond content in 25 kimberlites reached industrial requirements, and 2 large primary mines and 3 small deposits were identified.
In recent years, Linyi City has included diamond as a superior mineral in the Linyi Mining Economic Development Plan (2012~2020), and compiled a development plan for advantageous mineral resources industry, which will be Mengyin County, Pingyi County, Feixian County and Yucheng City. The county is listed as the key investigation and evaluation area of ​​diamond primary ore and the important ore-forming area of ​​deep prospecting, and the reserves of diamond resources are 1.747 million carats.

In 2013, the China Land Transfer Bureau held a seminar on the diamond prospecting work deployment in the North China Block Area in Linyi, taking Linyi as a national diamond prospecting area.
