Heavy pollution of PM10 in Wuhan into a major pollutant

Yesterday, the air quality in Wuhan turned sharply. From good to heavy pollution, the primary pollutant was no longer PM2.5. PM10 became the primary pollutant in air pollutants for the first time this year.

At 19:00 on the 25th, PM10 began to rise. At 3 PM yesterday, the PM10 hour concentration reached a maximum of 413 μg/m3. Although there was fluctuation during the period, it was mostly maintained at 260 μg/m3 or more. The PM2.5 concentration increased synchronously and reached a maximum of 136 μg/m3 at 2 pm yesterday.

Wuhan Atmospheric Composite Laboratory introduced dust content in the PM10, such as calcium and other elements increased. From the early morning of the 26th, the laboratory monitored that the content of calcium, potassium, etc. in particles rapidly increased and remained at a high level until 8 o'clock. At the same time, the concentration of PM10 in neighboring cities gradually increased from northwest to south, and Puyang, Tianmen, and Xiantao gradually became 201, 208, and 388 μg/m3. In cities outside the province, PM10 concentrations in Xi'an, Zhengzhou, and Changsha increased by 295, 282, and 309 μg/m3, respectively. The laboratory judged that the pollution was attributed to the northern dust transport.
