Just as its name suggests, The Earl is a solar-powered tablet, and comes with a solid, heavy and robust shell that can adapt to harsh outdoor environments. As a "survivor" tablet, the device includes all the functions needed for hiking, including typical wireless connections, NFC, GPS and pre-installed topographic maps. The tablet is also equipped with a two-way radio that can chat with other hikers using the Earl tablet.
The tablet is equipped with a 6-inch e-ink screen and no camera for photography, so don't expect to watch it or play games. If you want to take beautiful scenery, you'd better bring a dedicated camera.
The project is raising funds for the next step of production. At present, nearly 13,000 U.S. dollars have been raised on the site, and there are 32 days from the total amount of 250,000 U.S. dollars.
