Main types of filter press

Plate and frame filter press

The plate and frame filter press consists of a filter plate and a filter frame which are alternately arranged to form a set of filter chambers. The surface of the filter plate has a groove, and a protruding portion thereof supports the filter cloth. There are through holes in the corners of the filter frame and the filter plate, which form a complete passage after assembly, and can pass into the suspension, wash water and lead the filtrate. There are handles on both sides of the plate and frame supported on the beam, and the plate and frame are pressed by the pressing device. The filter cloth between the plates and the frames functions as a gasket. The suspension hydraulic pressure is introduced into the filter chamber by the feed pump to form a filter residue on the filter cloth until it fills the filter chamber. The filtrate passes through the filter cloth and flows along the groove of the filter plate to the corner channel of the plate frame to be discharged. After the filtration is completed, the filter residue can be washed by washing water. After washing, compressed air is sometimes introduced to remove the remaining washing liquid. Then open the filter press to remove the filter residue, clean the filter cloth, re-press the plate, frame, and start the next work cycle.

Plate and frame filter presses are suitable for suspensions with large or near incompressible filter residue. Suitable suspensions typically have a solids concentration of less than 10% and an operating pressure of generally from 0.3 to 0.6 MPa, particularly up to 3 MPa or higher. The filter area can be increased or decreased depending on the number of plate frames used. The plate frame is usually square, the inner length of the filter frame is 200-2000 mm, the frame thickness is 16-80 mm, and the filtering area is 0.5-1200 square meters. The plate and frame are pressed by manual screw, electric screw and hydraulic pressure. The plates and frames are made of wood, cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel, polypropylene and rubber.

Chamber filter press

The structure and working principle of the box filter press are similar to those of the plate and frame filter press. The difference is that the filter plates are recessed on both sides, and each two filter plates are combined into a single box filter chamber, eliminating the filter frame, and the filter plate center has a The round hole suspension thus flows into each of the filter chambers. This filter is suitable for suspensions that require filtration at higher pressures without the need for washing of the filter residue.

Vertical filter press

The filter plates are stacked horizontally and vertically to form a set of filter chambers with a small footprint. It uses a continuous filter belt to complete the filtration, move the filter belt to remove the slag and clean the filter belt, and automate the operation. The filter press has a wide range of applications and a simple structure. The plate and the frame are pressed and pulled apart, and the slag discharging and cleaning filter cloth can be automatically operated, which is beneficial to the development of the filter press to a large scale. After the elastic rubber diaphragm is added to the filter chamber of the filter press, the filter residue can be compressed by the rubber diaphragm with high pressure water or compressed air at the end of the filtration, so that the filter residue is further pressed and dehydrated to form a diaphragm with a variable volume of the filter chamber and a compressed filter residue. Press filtration, the pressure can reach 1-2 MPa.
